El Piso Casa de Baile

The Sanctuary of the Shared Heartbeat

El Piso (The Floor) was established in Kuala Lumpur in 2012 with a singular, quiet purpose: to provide a home for the soul. In a world that often prioritizes the loud and the fast, we offer a return to the intimate and the grounded. We are more than a school; we are a community of dreamers navigating the beautiful, complex landscape of the Argentine Tango.

Our Sacred Mission: Preserving the Pulse

Our mission is to act as custodians of the Salon Milonguero tradition. We believe that Tango is not a sequence of steps to be conquered, but a state of being to be inhabited.

We strive to create a "reverie" where every dancer—regardless of their level—can experience the profound peace of a perfect embrace. Our goal is to bridge the gap between the modern world and the timeless wisdom of the Milonga, ensuring that the art of the shared heartbeat continues to flourish in the heart of the city.

The Anatomy of Our Instruction: A Quality of Presence

At El Piso, the quality of a lesson is measured by the depth of the connection it fosters. We do not just teach you how to move; we teach you how to listen.

  • Internal Mechanics: We focus on the "invisible" side of Tango—the subtle weight shifts, the grounded walk, and the breath that precedes every movement.

  • The Musicality of the Soul: Lessons are designed around the rich textures of the Orquesta Típica. We teach you to sail into the music scene, turning the rhythms of the Golden Age into your own personal language.

  • Intentional Pedagogy: Our classes are structured to move you from the "thinking" mind into the "feeling" body. We prioritize technical precision as a gateway to emotional freedom, ensuring that every step you take is purposeful, safe, and beautiful.

The Guardians of the Walk

Cristopher Wibowo | Co-Founder & Lead Instructor

Cristopher is an architect of the Tango experience, dedicated to the preservation of the Salon Milonguero style. His journey into the world of movement began in 2000, forged in the fires of competitive Ballroom and Latin dance, where he achieved international recognition, including a 5th-place finish at the International Ballroom Dance Championships.

Before finding his home in Tango, Cristopher’s artistry was shaped by the precision of Capoeira and the rhythmic vitality of Salsa—disciplines that saw him performing on major stages, from MTV Jakarta Movie Awards to cinematic productions like "The Singapore Grip." However, his world shifted 360 degrees when he encountered the mastery of Javier Rodriguez and the late Andrea Misse. Under their guidance, he traded the performance of the stage for the intimacy of the embrace. Today, he teaches the philosophy of his Maestros: that a man must "walk like a giant" while treating his partner with the tenderness of a sleeping child. For Cristopher, Tango is not just a skill—it is a path to freedom and heart-centered happiness.

Michelle Ng | Co-Founder & Instructor

Michelle is the voice of the embrace. She specializes in the intricate sensitivity of the follower’s role, emphasizing the fluidity and grace that arise from deep trust. Michelle’s background focuses on the dialogue within the abrazo—teaching dancers how to interpret intention with their own unique artistry.

Together, Cristopher and Michelle provide a balanced, holistic approach to Tango. They don't just teach a dance; they share a way of life that celebrates the connection, the music, and the amazing abrazos that make Tango a dream worth waking up for.
